General presentation of the village
SÉEZ IS A MID-ALTITUDE VILLAGE WITH about 2,400 INHABITANTS.
The center of that special village is located 900m above sea level in the heart of a mountain that is 3000 meters high. Indeed the name of Seez comes from the Latin “sextum” which means “sixth milestone”. The village of Seez was built on the site of this marker, an essential step of the Roman Road that led from Vienna to Milan via the Little St. Bernard Pass. The village was also the former seat of the County of Val d’Isère. The identity of the municipality has been influenced by its historical and cultural richness.
Today, the village occupies a strategic position in the heart of the Haute Tarentaise and the largest ski resorts such as Les Arcs, Tignes, Val d’Isere, Sainte-Foy Tarentaise. It is connected to the San Bernardo international space (La Rosière / La Thuile d’Aosta) via the Ecudets chairlift located 6 kilometers from the village center.
In the summer season, Séez opens on Italy by the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard at 2188 meters, Beaufortain by Cormet Roselend 1968 meters and finally on the Maurienne by the Col de l’Iseran to 2764 meters.
